Apollo 13 was the seventh manned mission in the Apollo program, a series of space missions undertaken by the United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) with the goal of landing humans on the Moon. The mission was launched on April 11, 1970, and was intended to be the third lunar landing mission.

However, the mission was nearly ended in disaster when an oxygen tank in the spacecraft's service module exploded two days into the flight. The explosion caused a loss of oxygen and power, and the spacecraft was forced to make a difficult return to Earth without landing on the Moon.

The astronauts, James Lovell, Jack Swigert, and Fred Haise, were forced to improvise and use the lunar module as a "lifeboat" to keep themselves alive and make it back to Earth. Despite the challenges they faced, the crew was able to successfully return to Earth on April 17, 1970.

The Apollo 13 mission is remembered as a testament to the skill and resourcefulness of the astronauts and mission control, as well as the dedication of all those involved in the space program. It is also known for the famous phrase "Houston, we have a problem," which was said by Lovell during the crisis.
