The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) is a privacy law that applies to businesses operating in the state of California, United States. The CCPA went into effect on January 1, 2020, and requires businesses to disclose to consumers what personal information they have collected about them, and to give consumers the right to request that their personal information be deleted.

To be in compliance with the CCPA, businesses must be transparent about their data collection practices, provide consumers with the option to opt out of the sale of their personal information, and honor consumer requests to delete their personal information. Businesses must also provide consumers with a clear and concise privacy policy that explains their data collection and use practices.

The CCPA applies to businesses that collect personal information from California residents and either have annual gross revenues in excess of $25 million, or buy, sell, or receive the personal information of at least 50,000 consumers, households, or devices per year. Non-compliant businesses can be fined up to $7,500 per violation.
