In 1912, difficult times began to be experienced in Thessaloniki due to the Balkan War. Muslim Turkish people of the city; He had to leave Thessaloniki and migrate to the east, mainly to Istanbul and Izmir, within the war, pressures and the turmoil of those years. After the 1923 Treaty of Lausanne, the last part of the School of Progress in Thessaloniki, the Mansions, was liquidated and closed down like other Turkish properties. Thus, the nearly 55-year history of the school in Thessaloniki came to an end. But four years before the last part of the school in Thessaloniki was closed, another school with the spirit of Progress had already opened in Istanbul. A group of young people who were brought up in Thessaloniki Terakki School and immigrated to Istanbul during the Balkan War years established a school under the name ŞİŞLİ LİSAN MEKTEBİ on April 5, 1919 in order to continue the tradition of the home of wisdom they came from and to create the same tradition for younger generations. Şişli Language School, which opened its doors in Mahmut Celalettin Mansion on September 3, 1919, continued education in Nuri Pasha Mansion, which was rented in Pangaltı, from September 1, 1920, when this wooden mansion burned down on the evening of June 24, 1920.
The school changed its name as ŞİŞLİ TERAKKİ MEKTEBİ in 1921. As in its founding years, this school was managed by a committee of founding and protective members called Encümen.
Şişli Terakki School developed as a fully organized, boarding, mixed high school by renting mansions suitable for school service between Nişantaşı and Pangaltı until it gained its own buildings in 1935.

The Chief Mabeyinci Mansion was purchased from Emlak ve Eytam Bank in 1935. The mansion was demolished in 1949 and the construction of new and modern school facilities began. The construction of the facilities, which consists of Teşvikiye Street on the front, Akkavak Street on the back, and a large courtyard in the middle, was completed in 1962. In 1969, two floors were added to the front facade.
Şişli Terakki School was transferred to a limited company with the same name on 17 March 1934. This was a formal change because the partners of the company had signed an undertaking that they would not ask for any profit shares in accordance with the spirit and principles of Progress.
In 1963, the company was transformed into a facility with the legal expression of the foundation concept at that time, and with the law no. 903 that came into force in 1967, the TERAKKİ FACILITY turned into the TERAKKİ FOUNDATION and the school began to be managed by this foundation.
