Alice in Chains is an American rock band from Seattle, Washington. Formed in 1987, the band is known for its heavy, riff-based sound and dark, emotional lyrics. Alice in Chains rose to fame in the 1990s as part of the grunge movement, alongside bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam. The band's lineup includes singer/guitarist Jerry Cantrell, drummer Sean Kinney, and bassist Mike Inez. Past members include singer Layne Staley, who passed away in 2002, and guitarist Mike Starr, who passed away in 2011. Alice in Chains has released six studio albums, with their most recent, Rainier Fog, coming out in 2018.
