Apollo 1 was the first manned mission of the Apollo program, a series of space missions undertaken by the United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) with the goal of landing humans on the Moon. The mission was planned to be an Earth-orbital test flight of the Apollo spacecraft, with a crew consisting of astronauts Gus Grissom, Ed White, and Roger Chaffee.
