Blockbuster was a video rental store chain that was once one of the largest providers of home movie and video game rentals in the world. The company was founded in Dallas, Texas, USA, in 1985 and quickly grew to become a household name in the entertainment industry.
At its peak, Blockbuster had over 9,000 stores worldwide and employed tens of thousands of people. The company offered a wide selection of movies and video games for rent, as well as snacks and other merchandise.

The company filed for bankruptcy in 2010 and began closing its stores around the world. The last remaining Blockbuster store in the world, located in Bend, Oregon, USA, became a popular tourist attraction and continues to operate to this day.
