The Capital City Go-Go are an American professional basketball team based in Washington, D.C., and are affiliated with the Washington Wizards of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Go-Go play their home games at the St. Elizabeths East Entertainment and Sports Arena. The team became the twenty-third G League team to be owned by an NBA team.
The Go-Go were founded in 2018 and began play in the 2018–19 season. In their inaugural season, the Go-Go finished with a 26–24 record, missing the playoffs by one game. In the 2019–20 season, the Go-Go finished with a 23–25 record, again missing the playoffs. The 2020–21 season was shortened to 15 games due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Go-Go finished with a 9–6 record.
The Go-Go have had a number of players who have gone on to play in the NBA, including Thomas Bryant, Garrison Mathews, and Jordan McRae. Bryant was a second-round pick by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2017 NBA draft, and he has played for the Lakers, Wizards, and Charlotte Hornets. Mathews was a second-round pick by the Houston Rockets in the 2018 NBA draft, and he has played for the Rockets, Wizards, and Memphis Grizzlies. McRae was an undrafted free agent in 2016, and he has played for the Wizards, Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons, and Oklahoma City Thunder.
