Cars 2 is a 2011 American computer-animated action-adventure comedy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures. It is the sequel to the 2006 film Cars. The film is directed by John Lasseter and co-directed by Brad Lewis. The film follows racecar Lightning McQueen and his best friend Mater as they embark on a trip abroad to compete in the World Grand Prix. Along the way, they discover a nefarious plot involving a group of cars known as the Lemons and a mysterious British spy car named Finn McMissile. The film was met with mixed reviews and was not as successful as the first Cars film, though it still grossed over $462 million worldwide.
