The team was announced on December 17, 2018, as the 30th member of the Major League Soccer (MLS), and began play in the 2021 season. The team is owned by David Tepper, who also owns the NFL team, the Carolina Panthers. The team plays its home games at Bank of America Stadium, which is also the home of the Panthers. The club has not yet won any Major League Soccer Cup, but they have been doing good job in the league.
