The Deutsche Demokratische Partei (DDP) was a liberal political party in Germany that existed from 1918 to 1933. It was one of the original parties that formed in the aftermath of World War I, and it was known for its pro-republican, pro-democratic, and pro-business platform.
The DDP was part of the Weimar coalition that governed Germany during the early years of the Weimar Republic, and it was instrumental in passing key legislation such as the Weimar Constitution and the Young Plan. However, the party faced significant challenges during this time, including economic instability, political extremism, and growing public disillusionment.
In the late 1920s, the DDP's support began to decline as voters shifted towards more radical political parties. The party was unable to adapt to the changing political climate and eventually lost its influence. In 1933, the DDP was dissolved following the rise of the Nazi Party and the establishment of the Third Reich.
