Die Linke (The Left) is a left-wing political party in Germany. It was formed in 2007 through the merger of the Party of Democratic Socialism (PDS) and the Electoral Alternative for Labor and Social Justice (WASG). The party's platform is based on a combination of socialism, social democracy, and anti-capitalism, and it advocates for greater social and economic equality, worker's rights, and environmental protection.
Die Linke is the third-largest party in the German parliament and is a member of the European United Left–Nordic Green Left group in the European Parliament. It has representation in several state parliaments and has participated in governing coalitions at the state level in some cases. The party is led by Katja Kipping and Bernd Riexinger.
