The German National People's Party (DNVP) was a right-wing political party in Germany that existed from 1918 to 1933. It was founded by conservatives and monarchists who were opposed to the Weimar Republic and the Treaty of Versailles.
The DNVP was a nationalist and anti-Semitic party that espoused a platform of authoritarianism and economic protectionism. It was a vocal critic of the Weimar government and was often at odds with other political parties. Despite its opposition to the republic, the DNVP played a role in several governing coalitions during the early years of the Weimar Republic.
In the late 1920s, the DNVP's support began to decline as voters shifted towards more radical parties. The party was unable to adapt to the changing political climate, and it was eventually dissolved following the rise of the Nazi Party and the establishment of the Third Reich. Many of its members joined the Nazi Party or were persecuted by the regime.
