DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc. is an American animated film studio that produces mainly commercial computer-animated animated films. Among the films produced by the company are Shrek, Shark Tale, Madagascar, The Jungle Gang, Bee Movie, Kung Fu Panda. The company was established with the merger of Animation Division of DreamWorks SKG and Pacific Data Images (PDI). The company was previously operating under DreamWorks SKG but left the company in 2004. It assumed the distributorship of the company until 2006.
In 2006, the company was distributed by Paramount Pictures, but in 2013 it was transferred to 20th Century Fox. In 2018, Universal Studios, which is affiliated with the organization it owns, will take over. DreamWorks Animation consists of 2 studios, DreamWorks Studio in Glendale, California and PDI studio in Redwood City, California. DreamWorks Animation was sold to NBCUniversal on August 22, 2016 for $4.3 billion.
