The Deutsche Volksunion (DVU) was a far-right political party in Germany that existed from 1971 to 2011. It was founded by Gerhard Frey, a wealthy publisher and nationalist activist, and it espoused a platform of anti-Semitism, anti-immigration, and German nationalism.
The DVU was known for its extremist views and its hostile attitude towards minorities and immigrants. It was a vocal critic of the government and the European Union, and it often used inflammatory and offensive language in its campaign materials.
Despite its extremist views, the DVU gained some level of support, particularly in eastern Germany. It won seats in several regional parliaments and participated in governing coalitions at the local level in some cases. However, it was never a major force in national politics and eventually lost most of its support. The party was dissolved in 2011 after experiencing financial difficulties and internal strife.
