The G.I. Joe film series is a series of live-action films based on the G.I. Joe toyline and comic books created by Hasbro. The series began in 2009 with the release of "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" which was directed by Stephen Sommers and starred Channing Tatum, Dennis Quaid, Sienna Miller, and Marlon Wayans.
A sequel, "G.I. Joe: Retaliation," was released in 2013, directed by Jon M. Chu and starred Dwayne Johnson, Bruce Willis, and Channing Tatum. The film was not as successful as its predecessor both critically and commercially.
Both films were produced by Paramount Pictures and Platinum Dunes, and were released in theaters worldwide. The series has not released any new movies since 2013.
