MoDem is the abbreviation for the Democratic Movement, a political party in France. The party was founded in 2007 by François Bayrou, a former member of the Union for French Democracy (UDF) and three-time presidential candidate.
The MoDem is a center-right party that seeks to promote liberal and social-democratic values. The party's platform includes proposals on issues such as education, the environment, and European integration. The MoDem has participated in several elections in France, including the 2012 and 2017 presidential elections, in which Bayrou finished in third and fourth place, respectively.
In 2017, the MoDem entered into an alliance with the centrist party La République En Marche! (LREM) and several other smaller parties. This alliance helped to secure a parliamentary majority for LREM, and several MoDem members were appointed to the government of President Emmanuel Macron. The MoDem continues to be an active political force in France, though it remains a relatively small party.
