The NBA G League is the official minor league basketball organization of the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the United States. The league was originally founded in 2001 as the National Basketball Development League (NBDL), but was later rebranded as the NBA G League in 2017 after a partnership with Gatorade.

The NBA G League is made up of 29 teams, with 28 teams based in the United States and one team based in Canada. The league serves as a developmental platform for young players who are aspiring to play in the NBA, as well as a place for experienced players to continue their professional basketball careers.

Each NBA team has an affiliate in the G League, and the teams are owned and operated by their respective NBA parent clubs. The NBA G League also has its own draft and salary structure, and players who are not drafted or signed directly to NBA teams can enter the G League Draft to potentially join a G League team.

In addition to player development, the NBA G League also serves as a laboratory for the NBA to experiment with new rules, equipment, and technology. The league has implemented several experimental rules in recent years, including a 14-second shot clock after offensive rebounds and a "two-way contract" system that allows players to split time between the NBA and G League.

The NBA G League also places a strong emphasis on community involvement and social justice initiatives, with a focus on promoting education, health and wellness, and social and economic equity in the communities where its teams are based.
