The Seattle Kraken are a professional ice hockey team based in Seattle, Washington, United States. The team was founded in 2018 and began play in the National Hockey League (NHL) during the 2021-2022 season, becoming the NHL's 32nd franchise.
The Kraken play their home games at the Climate Pledge Arena, which underwent a major renovation to accommodate the team's arrival. The team's colors are navy blue, light blue, and white, and its logo features a mythical sea creature, the Kraken.
The Kraken have already built a passionate fan base and have made several notable acquisitions, including former Philadelphia Flyers forward James van Riemsdyk and former Calgary Flames defenseman Mark Giordano.
As a new team in the NHL, the Kraken have yet to establish a significant track record, but they are expected to be competitive in the years to come. They are part of the Pacific Division in the Western Conference of the NHL.
