SpaceX Crew-1 was the first crewed mission of SpaceX's Crew Dragon spacecraft to the International Space Station (ISS). The mission launched on November 15, 2020 and carried four astronauts: NASA astronauts Michael Hopkins, Victor Glover, and Shannon Walker, and Japanese astronaut Soichi Noguchi. The Crew Dragon spacecraft was launched atop a Falcon 9 rocket from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
The Crew-1 mission was the first of six operational crewed missions that SpaceX is contracted to fly for NASA under the Commercial Crew Program. It marked the first time that SpaceX has carried astronauts to the ISS, and the first time that the United States has launched astronauts from American soil since the retirement of the space shuttle in 2011.
The Crew-1 mission was a success, and the Crew Dragon spacecraft safely docked with the ISS on November 17, 2020. The astronauts spent six months on the ISS, conducting a variety of scientific experiments and performing maintenance tasks. They returned to Earth on April 28, 2021.
