Steel Panther is an American heavy metal band from Los Angeles, California. The band was formed in 2000, and originally went by the name Metal Skool. Steel Panther is known for its humorous and over-the-top stage presence, as well as its exaggerated 1980s glam metal style.
The band's original lineup consisted of lead vocalist Ralph Saenz (stage name Michael Starr), guitarist Russ Parrish (stage name Satchel), bassist Travis Haley (stage name Lexxi Foxx), and drummer Darren Leader (stage name Stix Zadinia). Steel Panther has released six studio albums to date, with its most recent, Heavy Metal Rules, coming out in 2019.
Steel Panther is known for its satirical take on the glam metal genre, and often pokes fun at the excesses and stereotypes of the 1980s hair metal scene. The band's lyrics are often sexual in nature and tongue-in-cheek, and its live performances are filled with comedic skits and audience interaction. Despite its humorous approach, Steel Panther is also known for its impressive musicianship and technical proficiency.
