STS-111 was a Space Shuttle mission to the International Space Station (ISS) flown by Space Shuttle Endeavour. The mission launched on June 5, 2002, and was the fourteenth shuttle mission to visit the ISS. The primary objective of the mission was to install the Mobile Base System (MBS), which would provide a mobile platform for the station's robotic arm, and to deliver supplies and equipment to the ISS. The mission also included three spacewalks to perform maintenance on the station's exterior.
The STS-111 mission patch features the Space Shuttle Endeavour with the International Space Station in the foreground and the Earth in the background. The patch also includes the mission slogan "Mobilizing for the Future" and the names of the seven crew members.
During the mission, the crew of Endeavour successfully installed the MBS on the ISS and delivered more than 3,000 pounds of supplies and equipment to the station. They also conducted three spacewalks to perform maintenance on the station's exterior, including the installation of a new gyroscope and the replacement of a faulty amplifier. The mission was considered a success and helped to further the construction and expansion of the ISS.
