STS-128 was a Space Shuttle mission to the International Space Station (ISS) flown by Space Shuttle Discovery. The mission launched on August 28, 2009, and was the twentieth shuttle mission to visit the ISS. The primary objective of the mission was to deliver and install the Leonardo Multi-Purpose Logistics Module (MPLM), which was filled with supplies and equipment for the ISS, and to perform maintenance and repair work on the station. The mission also included the rotation of the crew of the ISS.

The STS-128 crew consisted of seven astronauts, led by Commander Rick Sturckow. The crew also included Pilot Kevin Ford and Mission Specialists Pat Forrester, José Hernández, John Olivas, Christer Fuglesang, and Nicole Stott.

During the mission, the crew of Discovery successfully delivered and installed the Leonardo MPLM to the ISS and delivered more than 7,000 pounds of supplies and equipment to the station. They also performed maintenance and repair work on the ISS and rotated the crew of the ISS, bringing back the Expedition 21 crew and delivering the Expedition 22 crew to the station. The mission included three spacewalks to perform maintenance and repair work on the ISS.

The STS-128 mission was considered a success and helped to further the construction and expansion of the ISS. It marked the thirteenth visit of the Space Shuttle to the ISS and the final mission of the Space Shuttle program to carry a Multi-Purpose Logistics Module (MPLM).
