Styx is an American rock band that was formed in Chicago, Illinois in 1972. The band's original lineup consisted of lead vocalist and keyboardist Dennis DeYoung, guitarist and vocalist James "J.Y." Young, bassist Chuck Panozzo, guitarist John Curulewski, and drummer John Panozzo.
Styx is known for its blend of hard rock, progressive rock, and arena rock, and for its elaborate stage shows and use of multimedia effects. The band has released sixteen studio albums, with its most successful album being The Grand Illusion, released in 1977, which included the hit singles "Come Sail Away" and "Fooling Yourself."
Styx has undergone a number of line-up changes over the years, with only DeYoung and Chuck Panozzo remaining from the original lineup. The band continues to tour and release new music, with its latest album, The Mission, coming out in 2017.
