The Party of Communists in Hungary (Hungarian: Magyarországi Kommunisták Pártja, or MKP) is a political party in Hungary that was founded in 1992 after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The party is the successor to the Hungarian Socialist Workers' Party, which ruled Hungary as a single-party state from 1956 to 1989. The Party of Communists in Hungary is a Marxist-Leninist party that advocates for the establishment of a socialist state in Hungary. It is a small party with little political influence and has not won any seats in the Hungarian parliament. The party has been criticized for its ties to the Soviet-era regime and its support for the Soviet Union's invasion of Hungary in 1956.
