The Workers Party of Hungary (Hungarian: Magyar Munkáspárt, or MMP) is a far-left political party in Hungary that was founded in 1989. The party is led by József Gál, a former member of the Hungarian Socialist Workers' Party, which ruled Hungary as a single-party state from 1956 to 1989. The Workers Party of Hungary is a Marxist-Leninist party that advocates for the establishment of a socialist state in Hungary. It is a small party with little political influence and has not won any seats in the Hungarian parliament. The party has been criticized for its ties to the Soviet-era regime and its support for the Soviet Union's invasion of Hungary in 1956.
