The National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC) is an independent federal agency that provides planning guidance for the development of the National Capital Region (NCR), which includes Washington, D.C. and the surrounding areas in Maryland and Virginia. The NCPC is responsible for ensuring that federal development in the NCR is coordinated and consistent with the comprehensive plan for the region.
