Bridgeport Sound Tigers, a professional ice hockey team based in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The Sound Tigers are a minor league affiliate of the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League (NHL) and play in the American Hockey League (AHL). The team was founded in 2001 and plays its home games at the Webster Bank Arena.
The Sound Tigers have made the playoffs several times in their history, but have not yet won a division or conference championship. Some notable players who have played for the Sound Tigers include Kyle Okposo, Josh Bailey, and Anders Lee, all of whom have gone on to successful careers with the New York Islanders.
On May 10, 2021, it was announced that the team would change its name to the Bridgeport Islanders beginning with the 2021–22 season.
