Milieudefensie, also known as Friends of the Earth Netherlands, is a non-governmental environmental organization based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The organization was founded in 1971 and has been working on a variety of environmental issues such as climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, and sustainable agriculture.
Milieudefensie's mission is to create a healthy and sustainable living environment for everyone, both in the Netherlands and worldwide. They believe that environmental problems are interconnected with social and economic issues, and therefore, they work towards systemic change by advocating for policy changes and promoting sustainable alternatives.
Some of Milieudefensie's notable campaigns include the "Climate Case" lawsuit against the Dutch government for not doing enough to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the "Clean Air Now" campaign to reduce air pollution in Dutch cities, and the "Sustainable Food System" campaign to promote sustainable and fair food production and consumption.
Milieudefensie is a member of the Friends of the Earth International network, which is a global federation of environmental organizations operating in more than 70 countries.
